Day 5 – Practice day

So finally it is time to dust off the rifle pack up the range bag and focus the mind… well for 5 shots at least. Today was practice day which was the first opportunity to make sure all the kit had made it properly in one piece and make sure of zero’s for the forth coming matches.

A thankfully early star, much appreciated this diarist who had arrived back from New York at about midnight last night, was met with a leisurely breakfast followed by the usual distribution of bus supplies and ammunition ably organised by Tom.

On arrival at the range many took the opportunity to head up to the firing point to look for the promised spectacular views of the backdrop to this typically picturesque range. Unfortunately the mountains still obscured by the smoke haze from the forest fires that still manage to plague British Columbia.  We are promised some rain on Saturday and a drop in the temperature.

Moving out to the range for the zero shoot at 500x we had a straightforward time with just 5 shots per rifle and were through in short order with a number of the GB team heading down to the butts to mark targets. The main excitement of the day was the arrival of Sandy and Jon who flew into Vancouver today and were collected by the Captain, We are now at full complement although the Main Coach is engaged in a strange discipline called F-Class over in Ottawa.

An early night had by most in anticipation of the shooting commencing properly in the morning most eating at the hotel which catered admirably.
